Technology choices will effect your productivity!
Apply the right tool for the job to get the best results.

IMPACT is the most powerful claim processing systems on teh market today.  It benefits from a host of technological tools that provide level of power and flexibility not found in any other software product.  Here are a few that affect your productivity:

DB/C Operating Envrionment

One of the most powerful, reliable programming languages available.  DB/C is the programming language of choice for many software developers.  Transportable to all popular hardware platforms including Windows, Unix, Linux and AIX, DB/C has been proven reliable in environments demanding up-times exceeding 99.9%.  The entire suite of 1,400 IMPACT programs has been written in this one language eliminating the finger pointing between disparate systems often found in competitive offerings.

Live XML CommunicationsEnvironment

This new technology enables all Impact databases to be in constant communications with one another at all times.  This allows unlimited interactions during claim processing activities and provides IMPACT with the extra power source to achieve 100% auto-adjudication.

Aimdex Search Methodology

This programming tool enables IMPACT to access its databases using concurrent multiple search keys.  Many systems are limited to using single search keys; for example, searching on a provider tax id generally results in a list of all providers using that tax id.  With Aimdex, IMPACT can search on multiple criteria; for example, finding only those providers that use a specific tax id filtered by those with a certain specialty code and that have an office in a certain city.  Aimdex tools are the core of IMPACT databases, and is used to perform many sophisticated searches not available with other computer languages.

ODBC Compatibility

All Impact databases are fully ODBC compatible using the DB/C FS server software.  This allows tools such as Crystal Reports and other ODBC products complete access to the live data used by IMPACT at all times.

Oracle and SQL Interfaces

IMPACT includes sub-systems that provide automatic exportation of data; either select databases or the entire suite of files, into Oracle or other SQL database systems.  Some clients desire a time stamped, SQL database to drive all printing requests, so that reports of same data do not change throughout the day.  These extracts are part of the IMPACT program suite.

Imbedded EDI

IMPACT includes a suite of interactive EDI programs that handle X12 transactions such as 834, 835, 837, 277 & 278.  Many other claim processing systems chose to incorporate third party software to translate X12 transactions into proprietary formats before their software can handle them.  This leads to extraneous off-line processes and complexities that can arise due to lack of control over the specific translator.  With IMPACT, you and your trading partner can decide exactly how each data element is to be handled.

Rules -plus- Table Based - User Driven Logic

Some systems are rules based (if today is Monday, take out the trash, if today is Tuesday, do the dishes), while others are table based (Monday - Trash, Tuesday - Dishes.)  Each method can sometimes trade flexibility for efficiency, and vice/versa.  IMPACT presents Med-talk and Pay-talk; two rules based Boolean Logic engines that incorporate tables in their rules statement.  (i.e., read the day table and do what it says).  IMPACT's logic engines have hundreds of "IF/AND/OR" tests backed up with hundreds of "THEN/ELSE" commands all written for health claim processing functions.  No complex provider contract or benefit plan has ever stumped the Boolean Logic in IMPACT.

Webcom Communications

For those clients that choose to develop their own web-based health information interfaces, i.e., claim inquiries, enrollment changes, etc., IMPACT offers a communications protocol called Webcom.  Consisting of a series of programs that pass XML data through communications ports, Webcom is highly reliable and very proficient.  In use for over 2 years by a client that controls over 200,000 covered lives, Webcom has proven to be a very valuable tool inthe IMPACT tool case.

C-call Application Program Interfaces

There are a few industry applications that are so specialized that other provider software is always selected to perform specific functions.  DRG Groupers fall into that category.  IMPACT communicates with these products through C-calls directly from our DB/C program to the software provided by the application specialty vendor.  Such communications have the advantage of residing in one common host machine, producing the fastest possible results.
